CONCRETE OVERLAY

This before and after picture depicts a very cracked and beaten up concrete porch that has a large, open built in planter box. The right picture shows the porch from the top with a dark yellow and brown woodgrain patterned concrete overlay.

Demolition doesn’t always have to be the answer.

Don’t get us wrong, there is something satisfying about taking a sledge hammer to… anything, but if you can’t, or would rather not, take out your existing porch, patio, countertops or more, we can give it a new look that makes you forget it wasn’t always this awesome.

 How it works:

The top of this porch has been prepped and ground to give the concrete overlay better adhesion. There is white fiber tape laid out in lines vertically to begin lining out the woodgrain pattern that will eventually be achieved.

One of the fun things about this product is its wide range of applications, from patios to countertops.

  • To ensure a proper bond, we will clean, repair, and grind the existing concrete. The overlay can even be used over other substrates, such as wood, formica, laminate, etc.

  • The overlay will be done in up to 3 layers of concrete; 2 texture coats and 1 scratch layer

    • For indoor applications we will use the scratch coat as the top layer

    • For outdoor applications we will use the texture coat as the top layer to give more slip-resistant surface

  • Color and design can be added on the top layer to give your project a sophisticated and unique look

    • Using both integral and surface stains we can get a wide array of colors and looks

    • Different techniques produce different looks, even mimicking wood planks

  • After 24 hours of letting the concrete cure, we will apply a urethane topcoat over it. This will add an additional layer of extreme strength and durability that helps ensure your overlay, and colors, will last for years to come.

    • Our urethane product:

      • comes in either a matte or a gloss finish

      • meets USDA Food and Beverage regulations

      • is chemical resistant and easy to clean

      • is UV stable so it does not yellow and colors do not fade

      • can also contain a grit additive to increase durability and ensure a completely non-slip surface, even on snow days

  • After 24 hours after urethane application, surfaces are ready for use

Total time for typical installation: 4-6 days depending on style
